XLR8R

From the aggressive opening notes of “In Heat” to the infectious bombast of “Die Slow” and “We are Water” to the shoegazing dirge of album closer “In Violet,” Get Color is a beast.

Sputnikmusic
HEALTH successfully take the right elements from their raw debut LP and create a second album that lets them have the cake and eat it.
80
Tiny Mix Tapes
HEALTH have established themselves as one of the most consistently engaging of their peers in the L.A. noise rock scene, and perhaps one of the few who will stay with us for the long haul.
80
musicOMH

HEALTH's musical talent can be heard during every song on this album, but there is also some room to grow--another good sign of a promising new band.

80
PopMatters

Get Color builds on the success of HEALTH in all the right ways, proving the band worthy of an intimidating amount of hype while defying the expectations that come with it.

80
AllMusic
For many, HEALTH's noisy tendencies will be a bit much, but those who aren't afraid to dig deeper will be rewarded greatly.

NME
You’ll find HEALTH under your skin, at the end of your bed, everywhere you’re not looking, drenched in red mist.

No Ripcord

The Smell has had little to show in 2009 until now, and Get Color can sit comfortably beside No Age’s Nouns in The Smell's continually growing canon of impressive records.

The Skinny
Upon its release in January last year, the eponymous debut from L.A. noise botherers HEALTH polarised opinion.

Beats Per Minute

Fans of the first album may be somewhat disappointed, but Get Color is certain to attract and interest those alienated or uninterested in the noise aesthetic till now.

A.V. Club

Get Color is a hell of a tease, proving that Health is still an extraordinary band, but not always treating listeners to the full package.

74
Pitchfork
HEALTH follow their apocalyptic debut, arguably better remix album, and thrashing, industrial-disco single "Die Slow" with LP No. 2.
70
SPIN
Guitars and synths, both shimmering and scouring (depending on the volume level), can’t quite override the sweet harmonies at the heart of “Die Slow,” nor can the toms stop them on “Death+” or “We Are Water.”
60
The Irish Times

On Get Color, the band's addiction to sonic brashness now dovetails with tracks that sound more like songs (see Die Slowas a pointer) and not mere excuses to tune in and freak out at the drop of a hat.

I was introduced to HEALTH with their electro-industrial remixes and collaborations, so I was surprised after finding out they used to be a noise rock/experimental rock band, and Get Color is my introduction to this original sound.

I have to say that I didn't know how they originally sounded like, or what should I expect from this album, but if I'm being honest, this isn't so far off their modern material. They already had their atmospheric and soothing approach to vocals, and outside the ... read more

Seldom do we see a totally unique sound emerge. Electronic, glitch, danceable, dark, shiny

Taking the creativity of their debut and leaving its chaotic nature behind, this album capitalizes on the bands tight dynamic for creating atmosphere and musical hurricanes.

BEST TRACKS: Die Slow, We Are Water, Death+, Before Tigers, In Violet, In Heat

This album is not too memorable for me at all. Nothing I'll really ever go back to. The remixes on DISCO2 are a lot better.
Favorites: IN HEAT, DIE SLOW, DEATH +, IN VIOLET
