Well it's funky and dancey so that's kind of all it takes for me to like an album. There's definitely room for improvement but I can't be mad at this.

Favorite tracks: Time, Feed the Fire, Back To Earth, Chemicals, Impact, All We Have,
Least favorite: Heartbreak on the Dancefloor

VERY GOOD

On the one minute track titled "Rosner's Interlude" you hear a man say: "if the music lacks harmony, it doesn't move me at all. The lack of that unresolved chord that we all want to resolve is the thing that makes you want to get up and dance....". SG Lewis' album "doesn't come close to catharsis", like the pitchfork review says, because that's the point. You lose yourself in the music when the harmony is both beautiful and predictable, not when there is ... read more

Not bad! I think we all agree that this is not the most challenging genre in the world, but for what it wants to be, "times" is looking great. Really cool, low-pressure album with fun grooves and just good energy. It's not the artistic happening of the year, but it's too wholesome to not like it. "Chemicals" is a banger!

This is what the next generation was doing while Daft Punk was away: make a real dance-disco party. Both the opening songs for this era "Chemicals" and "Impact" are really perfect, two of the best songs of the 2020s. "times" is an unpredictable album, looking at the album cover I think it's a bedroom pop album or lofi hip hop, right?.

Disco movement is expanding day by day. From artists who have had success with this genre such as Kylie Minogue, Sophie ... read more

While we are still in the middle of this pandemic, we are also in the middle of disco revival, and SG Lewis' debut album, times, expands this revival again. Is it the best album of this period? No, but it will definitely make you groove. And if you like dance music, and especially this disco wave, it may be a nice addition to your library.

SG Lewis is a rising star in the background of dance music now. He is one of producers of "Hallucinate", one of singers of the global bestseller ... read more

SG Lewis provided a legit "Dance Pop, House and Nu-Disco" body of work. Except for "Fall", there's not even a dull track in the project, there're no skips! Everything stands out gently with dancing vibes. Moreover, the versatility of merging several genres that have been highlighted in different decades and crossing them with maestry is a point that deserves recognition. For Lewis's niche, it's an awesome album!

This is a solid-good entry from this prodigal artist.
With subtle disco 90s vibes and even roping in Nile Rodgers, Frances and even Robyn is an absolute keeper that actually chimes in some banging tunes!
Although I found most of these enjoyable,
I can't hold back on some flaws... With guest tracks, I felt Lewis' vocals was underwhelming at times, but during his solo tracks, he really shines. But, the major flaw I had was that finale song Fall...It was abysmally boring which cascades what ... read more

After a very strong start, SG Lewis' debut album "times" feels less interesting to me the more it progresses.

I really think that every song from the start up to "Heartbreak On The Dancefloor" is pretty great : the composition is decently interesting and the production is amazing. It feels very engaging, moving and just fun to listen to.

For the whole album, the vocal performances are well-made : the collaborations are good ideas and Lewis' voice is also pretty good.

Groovy tunes from an interesting name, but that's not enough to keep it up a whole record. Sometimes the party just become in a break-moment. Lewis might leave you with a sour feeling that something is missing.

It's exactly what I expected when I tuned into it: fun, catchy and danceable tracks that go well with a sunset drive or a party night. We tend to overthink this kind of music, but well it's just ~good vibes~ and I'm here for it.

Em ... read more

I really enjoyed this album, maybe it was the heavy amount of Disco that plagues this entire album or the vocal features that just kill it. It really is a fun Disco album, without straying way too far with its house inclusions. I thought it was good, but outlives its welcome halfway through.

Didn’t fuck with this at all. I did enjoy two or three tracks but other than that there wasn’t much going on here, it was just your usual dance pop/electronic shit. Also, the beat in 'Chemicals' reminded me of Jessie Ware's What's Your Pleasure (track) a little lol.

favourite track: Fall

This album is grooooovy. SG Lewis does what he does best, delivering songs to get you up and dancing. This seems a little lack luster compared to his typical releases. Production doesn't seem as polished, and it's a lot of surface level dance music with mediocre songwriting. Not sure why there are so many singles with it being only a 10 track album. It has it's flaws but overall, this is enjoyable.

Favorite Tracks: Feed the Fire, One More, Chemicals, Impact
Least Favorite Tracks: Back to Earth

5 singles for a 10 song album? .... really?

the album was decent, but boring. i wanted some of that quality sg lewis sound, but instead i was welcomed with an album that felt rushed. the robyn and channel tres track though, so good

favorites: fall, chemicals, and impact

Fun disco influenced house pop, reminds me of Yung Bae but with higher production value and a little less charm. Worth a listen for sure. The opening track is phenomenal and the collaborations are neat!
