Consequence of Sound

Unfortunately, although expectedly, this ragtag selection underwhelms when compared to her other work.

There's little on Lioness: Hidden Treasures that sounds throwaway, or like it should have never been released; but there's equally little that sounds absolutely essential.

NR
Assorted mix of styles that not only showcase her talent but works as a definitive collage of what she was about, from neo-soul to classic R&B, jazz and even rocksteady. She was at her best in her abbiliy to make any song her own, and here it all sounds laid-back, pressure free, it feels like honest choices, artist's needs away from career calculations. A delight, a treasure indeed.

A posthumous release that collects various songs and demos and was never meant to be her third album.
