AllMusic

More Faithful is a masterpiece for headphones, and more enjoyable with every listen at high, open air volumes, easily offering the best songwriting and aural presentation the band has mustered yet.

The Line of Best Fit

More Faithful feels like their first stab proper at a record that genuinely represents the sound they’ve been gunning for since day one.

Exclaim!
It's a record built less on borrowed nostalgia and genre fetishism and more on earnest, risk-taking creativity and mixing genres in weird sonic chemistry experiments.
75
Consequence of Sound

More Faithful is a genre-bending record with explosive yet concentrated sound that stays true to No Joy’s signature shoegaze rock.

The 405
I'm not floored by every song here, but it's admirable how well each element is strung together; loose ends and rainy atmospheres included.
70
Paste
It’s a jarring rather than smooth listen, but that’s exactly the point from a band that places premium value on the pattern of tension and release.
60
Drowned in Sound

A little more clarity wouldn't have gone amiss here and there, but there's enough on offer to bring curious listeners back for repeated spins, which is just as well, as More Faithful is definitely a grower.

60
DIY
The majority of ‘More Faithful’ is No Joy’s fastest, heaviest and most complex record to date.
60
The Skinny

At its best, as on the rampant "I Am An Eye Machine", More Faithful is an inch away from essential: a few more hooks would make all the difference.

They're just not finding the melodies as easily as they did on Wait to Pleasure. Still a band that's capable of greatness, and there are some stellar cuts here.
