built on juicy riffs and melodies, this album is very detailed and well-crafted in its entirety. it's got the right amount of angst, thought-provoking lyrics, and refreshing vocals. it somehow manages to sound very 90s, yet very ahead of its time. really enjoyed the slight juxtaposition of the heavy and energetic guitars with the tender lyrics.

An Album with a unique and recognizable production at the moment of listening, the order of the songs could not have been better, it is a journey through what I feel a story without beginning or end under an ocean in space, the voice is hypnotizing , the adornments of the choirs and effects of guitar and keyboards it seems that nobody could ever have create something like that, the heavy rhythms in some of the songs are energetic but this album does not stop having a constant pulse, volume and ... read more

Huh... y'know, I... I kinda remember liking this more than I do now...

If you've seen my top 5 albums of all time, you know that one of those albums, number 4, is Hum's 1995 record "You'd Prefer an Astronaut". I’m thinking of a number between everything and 2, and that number is 100. This album is easily Hum’s magnum opus. Everyone in the band brought their A-game to this album.

This is a really solid record. It's noisy, experimental, shoegazy, and a pretty fun time. I just wasn't a massive fan of the vocals on here. In some spots it was alright but mostly just didn't fit that well with the instrumentals. The band really pulls on this album. Every song is very well written with great riffs, choruses, solo moments, and just being the main catch here. I was really hoping to like this a lot more but even so it's a really thought out project.
