This is the new full-lenght project from the parents of Portuguese Gothic Metal, Moonspell, who have seen much better days. The overall mood of Hermitage is expansive, contemplative, hopeful, like looking out to the empty edges of the horizon. As you can guess from the title it all revolves on the ideas of retreat and asceticism, moving away from the city and modernity into ancient deserts to find consolation, exemplified by "Apopthegmata" (Patrum Aegyptorium) - Sayings of the Desert Fathers.
