For each person, the resulting resonance is unique, so I do not feel comfortable asserting much about this process for another. But for myself, this sound/synapse transposition is as haunting as it is beautiful — surely Grouper’s best.

I've been aware of Liz Harris aka Grouper for quite some time now. Wow. Just wow. I've known this album for a long time but I had to re-review it.
This was absolutely beautiful. It feels like it's taking you to another planet. Like an alien is observing your own body, while you're not in your skin and are experiencing dissociation. That's what I got from this.

on the latter half of Grouper's two-part ambient project A I A, she's managed to strike gold.
this album (and Dream Loss) is a departure from some of Grouper's more folk-influenced work, but it's not exactly the same as the more abstract and noisy sound on albums like Wide or Way Their Crept. really, it feels like an expansion on the sound present on her half of Inca Ore / Grouper.
