As expected, Harlow helms the album's narratives with his signature charisma, swerving from introspective quarantine laments ("Baxter Avenue") to the "cosigned by Diddy" boasts of "Face of My City" as he rounds out the project's range of sonics.

On Thats What They All Say, Harlow wallows in his newfound fame, raises the guardedness necessary to maintain sanity as a celebrity, and reps Louisville like his life depends on it.

His breezy, poppy confessionals are indeed charismatic, and coast along – to use a word that’s often deployed to describe him – effortlessly.

-5 for having Tory Lanez AND Chris Brown on your album in December 2020.

Jack Harlow is someone who I thought had potential but wasn’t heading on a path to really capitalize on it. This manifested in his EP from earlier this year, which I did not like. Like Lil Tecca, Fetty Wap and Lil Nas X before him, I doubt it will be long until Jack Harlow falls into obscurity after the success of What's Poppin, a boring, TikTok friendly hip-hop track with little substance other than an instrumental that gets stuck in your head. Sadly, Harlow's debut album doesn't offer much more substance, and while there are glimpses of potential, there's nothing here all too focused or noteworthy that could see this album heightening his traction much further. The ... read more

This proves to be a stellar debut album, showcasing Harlow's versatility and solidifying his position beyond a one-hit wonder. With his signature charisma, he navigates narratives ranging from introspective quarantine reflections in tracks like "Baxter Avenue" to the confident boasts of "Face of My City," co-signed by Diddy. The album delves into Harlow's newfound fame, addressing the guardedness required in maintaining sanity as a celebrity, all while passionately ... read more
