i’m a massive fan of the band title fight, so when i found out a former member was making a solo album, i was beyond excited. while this album has elements of what made tile fight so great, it’s pretty different stylistically. there are many great songs on this. i love Russin’s style of lyrics and his instrumentals are fantastic. i think the main flaw of this album (imo) is his voice. it sounds great on certain tracks, but other times it can kind of stick out like a sore ... read more
if it ends up being that 2021 is another Title Fight-less year (which, let’s be honest, it will be), i’m more than okay with this to tide me over bc it’s honestly really good.

Ned Russin manages to marry his raw emo shout with a shoegaze-tinged indie rock/post-hardcore sound even better than he did on his first full-length as Glitterer. it’s very short, concise, and sublime. i honestly couldn’t ask for much more.

Surprisingly, despite the fact that the longest track here is two and a half minutes long, I didn't run into the same problem I faced when listening to Slowthai's new album, for example. That is, there was no feeling that the tracks didn't have enough timing to reveal their full potential. On the contrary, if the tracks were longer, they would most likely seem unreasonably long and boring.
