I decided to include this on my Madonna discography ranking and not Who's that Girl for a simple reason, this is a full soundtrack album while on Who's That Girl she only has 4 songs. A testament to Madonna's bold versatility, I'm Breathless is a striking foray into big-band jazz and swing. Madonna, the variété artist and re-incarnation of Marilyn Monroe who not only adapts her iconic looks but also lends her the voice. This has postmodernity written all over; noir pastiche as a movie and an extended listen for Vaudeville devotees.
