Dude, I’m about 5 songs into this thing, and I have to stop to say something

This is incredible hip hop. The flow from JID is incredible. The bars are all there, and somehow the hooks are catchier than ever.

I hope this continues through the whole album. My jaw has hit the floor a couple of times already. Absolutely loving it.

Edit: finished the album. This is JID showing that he really has something to prove. Being one of the oldest right now in the contemporary rap game, it feels ... read more

[Production on this just so unique, love the samples and lyrics just so good.]

JID really leveled up and the result is INSANE. So many amazing tracks. I need more time with this, and there are a few songs I’m not sure about and didn’t love first listen, but this blew me away multiple times and I’m sure with more listens it’ll be even better. Full review soon.

Edit: alright, here’s the review:

On “The Forever Story”, JID solidifies himself as one of the most exciting rappers out with what will likely end up being considered a ... read more

You know, I was scared that J.I.D wouldn't be able to reach the skill that he had in his past two albums, I was wrong. This is amazing, the story telling, the beats, the flows, the features, the beat switches. HOLY SHIT, it's magical how amazing this album is. Also 2007 is one of the best songs of the year.

I actually didn’t plan on checking this album out. But seeing the positive reception it got, and all the hype surrounding it. I kinda had to. I used to be big on his last album, “DiCaprio 2”, but it seriously wore off me in recent years. The main problem I had with it, was that JID wasn’t saying anything at all. Sure, he was showing off his technical ability, but what good is that if the album lacks substance.

This record sees JID improve in that aspect. He does ... read more

NO NUANCE REVIEW

Imagine you’re me. It’s Thursday, August 25th, 2022. One of the most critically acclaimed new school rappers, JID, is about to release his next album. You checked out his last album when it originally released and loved it. It’s been four long years since then, he’s clearly put his time into his next release, and judging from his handful of features he’s been on since his last album, the chances of him disappointing are really slim. There is a ... read more

EDIT: Omg it's already growing on me exponentially. Don't be surpirsed if this ends up in my Top 3 of the year

"Fuck Hulk Hogan and fuck Joe Rogan, because it flows" is goddamn hysterical

i've always believed that, purely based on raw technical skill and talent, J.I.D is absolutely one of the greatest in the game right now, but i also believed that his two previous records, while great, weren't the classics i felt he was capable of.

but "The Forever Story" is easily is ... read more

JID is a member of the label Dreamville that I've personally felt the most potential out of, with his previous works being really great in terms of performances and production. And it's fair to say that "The Forever Story" is a peak album in terms of quality and performances. JIDs flows are on point, the bars are incredibly written, and the hooks are probably some of his best in his catalog. Even the features I feel step up to the plate on here for the most part, some of my favorites ... read more

JID is an artist who’s been on my radar forever but, despite glowing reviews and constant recommendations from friends, I kept overlooking. My mistake, because this album quickly establishes him in my mind as one of the most compelling rappers in the industry currently. What a fantastic first listen, it’s hooky, the beats are great and JID floats right over them. His flow on this project is consistently top notch. I am thoroughly impressed and fairly apologetic to those who told me ... read more

it's hard to believe it's been four years. being one of my gateway artists into hip-hop, i wholeheartedly believe that JID's second studio album "DiCaprio 2" is one of the most criminally underrated rap releases of the 2010's. nonetheless, he was left without a classic record under his belt for quite a while. i think it's here now. this new collection of tracks is consistent and quality throughout, but its strongest moments shine through when the emotional potency is at its most ... read more

The Forever Story is a fantastic hip-hop album, displaying crisp production, groovy beats, and poetic lyrics. JID shows off many slick flows as well as his overall ability with the pen. One of the best hip-hop records of the year.

His 3rd solo album isn't wall-to-wall bangers like I hoped for, but J.I.D's unmistakable growth as an artist is more than satisfying to hear.

The “Never” and “Off Deez” rapper finally releases an album that not only consistently holds up to his best work but also slams a thematic home-run. JID has solidified himself as one of the greatest of the current generation.

This is a great album. I mainly know JID from some standout tracks from Dicaprio 2 but this is the first album I heard fully from him and impressed but i think he still can top this. This is like Kendrick level, in fact better than Mr Morale IMO. Lyrically and performance wise, JID really stands out against contemporaries. Solid album with modern and throwback elements.

The Forever Story showcases why JID is one of the best rappers out right now. It also has great production with plenty of beat switches, and even on the tracks I don't like there's highs to come back to.

"The Forever Story" é um álbum muito importante para J.I.D — rapper estadounidense com quem a banda 'Imagine Dragons' colaborou na trilha sonora de Arcane. Nele, Destin (nome real do artista) registra toda a sua experiência enquanto um filho caçula dividindo sua casa com sete outras crianças. Partindo para uma jornada mais pessoal e introspectiva, em busca de auto-conhecimento. Com isso, o compositor compõe uma peça musical ... read more

Incredibly strong, at this point I'm fully certain that JID is better than Cole but other fans have other opinions.

The production between hard hits and smooth soul tracks make for a trip of an album, with both sides of the coin being next to flawless at times. The hip-hop element is never lost either, JID & features always have consistently impressive and fresh flows on top of fantastic beats, for songs that you simply cannot find anywhere else. Recognizable features and producers help ... read more
