I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I fucking hate ambient and drone music. So much of it, to my ears, sounds unstimulating and insanely repetitive. Many of the genre’s greats sound so… subpar if I’m to be brutally honest. For an ambient album to grab my attention and truly stick out to me it has to do 3 things: Develop enough to be interesting for the whole song’s runtime so that there isn’t 5-6 minutes of dead space that’s the same ... read more

holy shit.
every track sounded completely different from the one before, but it still flowed well. some tracks are beautiful and others are terrifying. the features were all really good.
faves: title track, apparent, everything i’ve seen, the answers, you are dead
least faves: old frame

Imagine yourself being surrounded by massive loud speakers, this album playing, huge LED screens with nature image showing all over, (kinda like that panel on 'This is What You Came For' music video where Rihanna is doing poses),
some drinks in hand just vibbin' ....
Now that's what I call an ethereal experience.

p.s: support artists on bandcamp!

haunting

some atmospheric ambient for the soul, transcending.
slow moving and immensely rewarding, a real treat.

this is so good because this so different and unique. it's not perfect, but by god can it be breathtaking in its best moments. i was not expecting this at all, but i can guarantee i will be returning to this project time and time again. everything is so angelic and world-shattering with its pure beauty that i can overlook the occasional mess.

fave tracks: it's apparent that a dream that was once shared died; everything i've seen needs rearranging; when the cold hit; after the cold hit; i've ... read more

I wish I liked this more. I love the art, I love the track titles, I love the album title. I like most of it, but it outstays its welcome a little and doesn’t really contain enough to keep me invested. I think it’s quite thin and once you look beneath the relaxing surface, there’s not much substance to support this record.

Oh my god, wow... This was amazing. Everything about this project was so well done. It felt like a dream. It was mesmerizing and unique and beautiful. I loved it. And I wish it was on Spotify.

FAVORITE TRACK: When the Cold Hit

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Everything I've Seen Needs Rearranging

Katia Krow's I've Called Off The Search, I Know Exactly Where You Are is a lonely ambient album. The best songs on this are the ones that stray from an airer, more isolated sound and include a gentle guitar that feels homily. When the Cold Hit has this lonely feeling with a beautiful and simple guitar that gets covered by reverb and naturalistic sounds to create something special. The instrumental ... read more

My first 2021 « coup de cœur » album. Loving this one. On some songs, Katia Krow brilliantly blends folk (guitar) and glitch electro elements. Some other tracks are pure ambient bliss with subtle noisy sounds to give a little kick. Other tracks are ambient with a heavier background with environmental sounds such as a person walking or a distant closing door. I like the diversity of this album while being coherent. I couldn’t resist to buy it and it makes it my first ... read more

Oh my god that was so good. Not her best, but was it ever memorable. The feature were incredible as well, and an Alphabet Holds Hostage/Swallowtail collaborative EP would be amazing. I loved it, and I might buy it. I highly recommend checking it out

This is a very enjoyable ambient record but...it has some problems. Problem number 1, the opening track becomes downright repetitive and boring. It simply isn't dynamic. This ultimately becomes a one time error though as the subsequent tracks are much better...but it still comes across as a Dollar Store 2814. The soundscapes are dreamy and at times downright lovely but...to truly stand out in a genre like ambient you have to do something ear catching and Katia Krow simply fails in this regard, ... read more

Really neat project. I appreciate how they're able to make an enjoyable, atmospheric ambient project while still being able to incorporate different sounds and make everything tie together very well. Definitely hope people check this out

First album in 2021 that really stopped me in my tracks. I love how varied the record is as others have pointed out. Not every song is amazing but the highlights are fantastic, especially track 7- please at least check that one out I can't get enough of it.

This is the type of music that I crave when I am working during the day. It is so pleasant, with a hint of sadness. The ambient sound is something that I need to stay focused on my tasks without getting too distracted. Totally worth listening to!

Katia Krow's debut is one great ambient album that is both beautiful and haunting, with some of it even going into some noise by the end, yet it still remains accessible with it's ambience. If I have one problem is maybe that it can be a little unfocused but even then is still very engaging both in your mind or just in the background

There’s a sense of mystery I get from this album for sure. Even the titles are pretty chilling. It’s a bit eclectic at times, but never strays too much from being incohesive. Maybe there’s not enough going on though, because I feel its potential a little skewed. It is technically intriguing, and doesn’t feel too stretched though.

All the tinkling sounds in “It’s Apparent That a Dream That Was Once Shared Died” don’t seem to have much rhyme or ... read more

The best way I could describe this album is ominous. The mysterious atmosphere it creates is fantastic with its drones and glitches throughout which in some cases reminded me of Oneohtrix's latest effort (Particularly tracks 1 & 6). Along with the acoustic guitar and field recordings it's like you're sailing through a maze of fog with dangers and hints of guidance and along the way, reminiscent of the cover art. Really glad I checked this out and I'm sure it will be among my favourite ... read more
