This sampler encapsulates both the warped obstacles and celestial melodies in the Lipgloss Twins and easyFun’s keep-skidding-into-the-roller-rink-wall “Laplander,” respectively, that make the crew the most engaging puzzle in surge-protected pop.
Their classics remain buried in web mixes, but this set captures PC Music’s sublime pop philosophy.

PC Music Volume 1, which is billed as the label's first "official" release and contains nine of its best tracks to date, can be roughly split in two.

Consequence of Sound
Maybe these are love songs for the Tinder age, now that our connections to other people are no less real but more highly mediated. Maybe this is what it sounds like when our urge for understanding comes shrink-wrapped in layers upon layers of brands.
Taken together, the rapturous, nightmarish cartoon corpus is maddeningly effective; it solidifies PC Music’s ability to only produce strong reactions, whether starry-eyed captivation or powerful revulsion or a nauseating juxtaposition of both poles.
It’s pop music viewed through the lens of people who love pop, designed for other people who love pop and people who have used the phrase “through the lens of” far too many times in music criticism.
Rolling Stone
Beyond Cook's own uncannily elegiac "Beautiful," the songs are only as good as the concept, which wears thin fast.
individual releases of these tracks work better imo, and their best releases aren't on this comp, but a good intro, if yr a fan you'll have these songs already
a refreshing take on the common electronic and pop music of the 2010's. i find myself coming back to many of the songs on this compilation.

fav tracks: don't wanna / let's do it, every night, in my dreams, laplander
There are some great tracks here and some not so great ones. But, the best songs are fantastic enough to make the whole record worth a listen.

Favorite Songs: Beautiful (soooo good), Laplander, Every Night, USA
Least favs: Wannabe, Bronze
Favorite Tracks:
Beautiful, Wannabe, Bronze, Don’t Wanna / Let’s Do It

Least Favorite Track:
This album is the future of pop.

Combining elements of kitsch, camp, Eurodance, K-pop, J-pop, this is the logical conclusion of mainstream dance-pop music. It produces a fascinating uncanny valley-esque atmosphere in the overblown bass combined with pitch-shifted vocals portraying idealized romance. You have to experience it to see what I mean.
