The superior entry on 'Legacy +', a more organic sounding, less contrived effort than Made Kuti. Neither has quite the effortless instincts for afrobeat and jazz as Fela, but they showcase where they've been musically, independently and show a ton of potential for the future. I’m a sucker for this kind of afrobeat. There are a lot of good jams on here, but they are a little bit too focused and tight, they lack the unpredictability of some of the better releases in the genre. Nevertheless, this is very well executed funky and complex dance music with a political lense. The larger ‘Legacy+’ release just includes what sounds like a b-sides half and makes it needlessly lengthy.
