This is the first and last country album I will listen to. The best songs are either homophobic or misogynistic so I guess Ween’s commentary on country music actually worked.
Some time ago, this album didn't matter to me a lot compared to other albums of Ween's discography, but over time and multiple listens, it has already formed a very nice bond with me. A fun and creative album in many ways, has nuances that always had the classic country songs, but adding Ween's unique way of composing the lyrics. The trip of Ween towards country doesn't catch me. I prefer the more experimental, psychedelic and alternative side of Dean and Gene. The album is ok - and its lyrics united with country music seem pretty crazed , but unfortunately not even more - and for that reason I spare further comments and listing favourite tracks.
I mean essentially it's the most consistent release Ween has put out yet. No, it's not the most indicative of their general sound, but these are Ween songs on a Ween album and you can tell. The songwriting comes through really well through this hilarious Nashville lens. Makes all of the vulgarity very funny too, what a bunch of dorks. I wonder if they know how to count?
One of the best Country albums out there and one of the more consistent Ween Albums.
