Pinegrove's new album, which is also movie soundtrack apparently, is pretty good. It's too long (21 songs), but that could be forgiven because it's a score for a movie. The range of the vocals, the guitar riffs, and decent lyrics made this quite enjoyable. The lyrics of the song Endless capture what we're all feeling in quarantine: "I wake up & feel totally the same,I woke up the same as yesterday...But it's an honor to feel this way, To feel the color of the longest day". ... read more
I can already say quite confidently that Amperland, NY is going to remain my favorite country record of the year - by a country mile (pun most certainly intended). Though you could argue that it's a bit long and has too many tracks, it being conceived as a soundtrack puts its length in a bit more context. Also, the songs are all equally great, and hold enough variety between them to keep the listener from feeling much, if any, fatigue. Some of the most gorgeous vocal melodies of the year.

Pinegrove creates a beautiful soundtrack composed of previously released material (most of Marigold, their most recent album, is featured here).

Amperland, NY is a film made by Pinegrove. And it is only fitting that the music that soundtracks it would be music by them.... live re-imaginings of their older songs in fact.
