With a powerful voice like Birdy you can't really go full wrong.... what a talented woman. 'Young Heart' is a collection of romantic-esque songs that could be easily so damn generic, yet it got soul. It's a driven album, made me cozy for a while but at the same time it's "just ok" to be listening to this in the background. Birdy is suited to folk music, she was born to do it no matter what.

As usual, Birdy envelops me with her warm emotional blanket and scoots me over to her as she sings closely to my ears.

No “The Collective Collaborative Review” today, Birdy dropping her first album in five years is the only motivation I need to write something this time around! To be fair, its release neatly coincided with the end of school assessments, but aside from that I just didn’t really want to write any reviews anyway. I’ve mostly been using this site recently as a listening log, although procrastinating here remains a bit of a bad habit I’m still trying to kick. Will I be ... read more

A folk pop album that ventures very little and with few interesting aspects, there are good songs and decent vocal performance. It just didn't get my attention.

Gorgeous, striking vocals, proper instrumental, and a very peaceful, heartwarming atmosphere is what makes "Young Heart" a pleasant and solid folk/pop record. It could've easily been just 10 tracks long though, and it would probably leave an even better impression since some of those 16 songs here start to blend together when they are not as distinctive as others.

Young Heart was a project I was highly anticipating, as I have always appreciated Birdy's work, and the singles leading up to this album were all excellent. Now it's here, and... it's a bit of a letdown, I guess?
Don't get me wrong, I think this project is great. I have a lot of good things to say about it. First of all, her decision to make this album more musically simple, stripping it back to a more piano-based sound, was a really good decision. It reminds me a bit of artists such as Simon ... read more

Everyone has been waiting for the release of the third studio album of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and singer Birdy since the distant 2016, and here is the long-awaited disc "Young Heart".
After a long lull associated with emotional decline after a love break, because of which Jasmine decided to leave for India for three months, and then to a wooden house in Topango, California, where she began recording her upcoming album, as Jasmine herself says "it gave the feeling of ... read more

the title of the record encapsulates the current of feelings in this album accurately. considering it deals with struggles that one undergoes in young years, it has that substantial content of heartache, loneliness, changes and self-discovery: all put in the picture alongside a snuggly production holding a hard grasp on an acoustic guitar with tender melodies following right behind, mostly. problem is how songwriting and rhythm seem to lack. overusing both earth and matter’s elements ... read more

Birdy continues her romantic and soft style with this album. A sweet work that fills me with peace.

Fav Songs: The Witching Hour - Intro, Voyager, Surrender, Deepest Lonely

It's hard not to hear how perfect Birdy controls her voice during this LP. At times, the album can get quite repetitive melodically and lyrically but all the songs here are pleasant to listen to which is always a good thing.

FAV: Voyager, Loneliness, Surrender, Celestial Dancers,
LEAST FAV: Lighthouse

was heavily impressed with this, kinda hoped she would’ve expanded more with instrumentation and production but nonetheless it’s a pretty solid piece of work. she sounds like weyes blood with a little touch of joni mitchell.

I think it's pretty underappreciated how good the pacing on this album is. Every song perfectly complements the next and culminates into a deeply moving and vulnerable listening experience. But ultimately, I think I'm just biased because this album healed personal wounds I've been dealing with and is exactly the kind of mood I've been in lately.

Fav tracks: Voyager, Nobody Knows Me Like You Do, Young Heart

A great album but it is brought down by a bloated track list and filler songs that would help deliver a better project if simply removed.

I feel like Birdy has had a brilliant album begging to come out for 10 years now. But, alas, it once again doesn't. This is, like, okay.

It’s been five years since English singer-songwriter Birdy last released a full studio album with 2016’s Beautiful Lies, so it was a welcoming surprise when she started releasing tracks like Loneliness and Deepest Lonely which would evidently become part of her newest record Young Heart. Over the last few years Birdy has definitely grown as a songwriter and musician, feeling more comfortable in sharing a more vulnerable side to her artistry, and overall developing a full rounded ... read more
