ERRA made probably one of the best decisions in moving to UNFD and putting out this record with them. This LP is kinda frustrating to me.
Erra's sound has always been, to my ears, very fresh in the increasingly uninteresting field of djent-y metalcore. The technical prowess of the guitarists and the band's clear talent at building an emotive and hefty atmosphere cannot be understated. That said, Erra has also always received a bit of criticism for certain facets of their sound.
Namely, the one-note nature of the harsh vocals from JT Cavey and the overreliance on djent tropes.

I've always considered Erra one of the most generic and bland bands in metalcore scene, the self-titled LP is not the exception.
The definitive output of Modern Metalcore for me, this album is flagship song after flagship song after flagship song.
Despite this being Djent, which some bands can come across as generic when they play to it, the riffs and grooves don't have anything to envy to the past iconic outputs of the genre, and there is wide room for flashy and sweet-to-the-ears guitar work in the equation too.
