I can admit I was a bit harsh on reviewing this album originally, and while I do appreciate this album more now in context to Rollo Tomassi's evolving discography, a lot of my original opinions still stand. I think this album is still pretty disjointed in concept and although it has a lot of great ideas, I feel like these ideas would be fully explored and mastered on their following LP, leaving Grievances feeling like more of a stepping ... read more

they must've been listening to alot of black metal before making this because holy shit, everything from the guitar tone to the vocal delivery to the insane blast beats... this is essentially blackened mathcore.

This may be the weirdest mathcore album I've tried so far. I can't lie and say that this isn't enjoyable, because it really is. There's a lot of quiet moments that make the harder moments of the album feel well-earned, but I still find a longing for something that this is missing.
