I can admit I was a bit harsh on reviewing this album originally, and while I do appreciate this album more now in context to Rollo Tomassi's evolving discography, a lot of my original opinions still stand. they must've been listening to alot of black metal before making this because holy shit, everything from the guitar tone to the vocal delivery to the insane blast beats... this is essentially blackened mathcore.
This may be the weirdest mathcore album I've tried so far. I can't lie and say that this isn't enjoyable, because it really is. There's a lot of quiet moments that make the harder moments of the album feel well-earned, but I still find a longing for something that this is missing. This also feels like it inspired a lot of the most recent Daughters album too. There's definitely a lot to digest with this one and maybe with further listens, I'll rank it higher.
