You get the sense that she’s just flexing her muscles - she never feels stretched beyond her comfort zone.

NME
The final installment in the rapper's 'Last Year Was Weird' trilogy is flooding with winning moments.

Pitchfork
The Australian musician caps an adventurous trilogy of EPs with another round of plush, laid-back songs that effortlessly mix pop, rap, R&B, and reggae.

The Needle Drop

The downside of LYWW3 being an EP is its more sensitive spots not having much room to breathe.

Loud and Quiet

Vol. 3 might bookend this chapter of Tkay’s career on a mellower note – lyrically this collection feels much breezier – but no doubt there’s fire to spare in her belly.

Spectrum Culture

Versatility continues to be the Australian musician’s greatest strength, but as she nears a decade in the business, that variety might also be undermining her memorability.

After spending some time honing her craft as an artist, Tkay Maidza really exploded in 2020 with the release of “Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2”. Now with the release of its followup, Vol. 3, it seems as though Maidza has stuck the landing, proving her chops as a bonafide hitmaker.

Even though it’s been years since her debut, Tkay Maidza has more than proven that she’s kept herself busy with her “Last Year Was Weird” trilogy. The previous volume in this ... read more

1. Eden (Score: 9.1)
Interesting poppy beat, I like the feeling of this. Spotless production Great bass, really strong vocals. This is a great start.
2. Onto Me (Score: 9.4)
Another sugary beat. The pop elements are really infectious. Tons of switchups, love the upper falsetto. Chorus absolutely slaps. Really sweet. I like the comparison to honey. Simple pop formula is very effective.
3. So Cold (Score: 8.6)
She ain falling in love no more. Feels like she says this and then gets a cold ... read more

'Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3', the final EP in the LYWW trilogy is as exciting and excellent as its past volumes as Tkay continues to show off her talent as an artist, proving why she's one of the most underrated artists out right now. LYWW Volume 1 and 2 hold a special place in my heart because that was when I started exploring music more, especially music other than trap, really expanding my knowledge of music. The Australian artist carries on everything she did well in her last two EPs, ... read more
