‘Greatest Hits’ is great then. And it’s full of hits. So that’s all good.

Upset
Never anything but in your face, it switches from pop-punk to full-on hyper-pop banger at will. Its key moments are iconic from the word go.

AllMusic

Houston's Waterparks are just that sort of every-flavor-in-one kind of band on their fourth album, 2021's likeably indulgent Greatest Hits. While the title is an example of the group's cheeky sense of humor, it speaks to their confidence in crafting infectious songs that sound like the unexpected offspring of Blur's "Song 2" and Owl City's "Fireflies."

NME
The band's fourth album is no retrospective hagiography, but instead takes a bold step into sprawling new territory.

Kerrang!

On the Texan trio’s stunningly bonkers fourth album Greatest Hits (not a compilation of old singles, FYI), Waterparks have genuinely done everything; not so much simply just opening the metaphorical artistic door to give listeners a peek at their sky-high songwriting aspirations, but truly throwing all they have into 17 songs of pure chaotic – but carefully-crafted, don’t forget that – brilliance.

DIY
Throughout the album’s staggering seventeen tracks, it does become easy to get a little lost.

"Last night I had the strangest dream of all"

By far the most unique and interesting band in the pop punk scene (despite no longer being pop punk musically), Waterparks have once again topped their previous efforts with a stunningly diverse and monumentally entertaining release. Never a band to stick to one sound or creatively restrict themselves, they try their hand at a huge variety of genres and yet somehow manage to pull them all off perfectly; where other bands will claim to ... read more

waterparks are another band i have a very complicated relationship with. i own a signed copy of one of their albums, i’ve met them. and i’ve technically seen them live twice yet i don’t really consider myself a fan of them. look i love double dare but i can’t stand entertainment and i just think fandom is decent. i saw waterparks open for all time low at my first concert ever and really enjoyed their set. i checked out their (at the time) new album double dare and ... read more

it's an album with songs on it, i will give it that at least!

Aside from the spiritual lyrical miracle finale and some other choice atom bombs, compared to the rest of Waterparks’ post-debut stuff, it’s not terrible. Leaning further into the hyper pop thing was a pretty good idea, turning the band from one that feels like they’re accidentally terrible to one where the terrible qualities feel like they add to the experience instead of take away from it. Even still, the issue remains that Waterparks just aren’t very good at making ... read more

This is the best waterparks album. The seamless mixing of genres, the narrative, the vocals and the experimentation. It's all pretty good.
