With not being too familiar with the terminology or the music in general, I find reviewing jazz music to be quite daunting. Regardless, this album Uneasy, which finds Vijay Iyer on piano, Linda May Oh on bass, and Tyshawn Sorry on drums was a super engaging listen. One of the top jazz releases of the year is from ECM mainstay, Vijay Iyer with Linda May Han Oh and Tyshawn Sorey. This is an achievement for the trio in improvisation, experimentation and ingenuity, I mean it's almost impossible to look at it as a "piano jazz album" it's so sonically diverse. In anticipation of the Trio's new LP releasing in a few days, I've given their 2021 project, Uneasy another listen. This is still just very effective ECM jazz with incredible composition and breathtaking performances.
I don't know nearly enough about jazz to write a super authentic review, but even my untrained ears perk up when I hear how amazingly these three people play their instruments. Even individually they are masters of their craft, Vijay Iyer is one of my favourite pianists I know. ... read more
