Yes, it is a wonderful record and it has several topics that must be remembered and addressed when talking about it. Many of these themes can go unnoticed by most people, and I will try to explain my view of how I interpreted the record. He sends a very realistic message about sadness, boredom, depression, overcoming, etc. These messages are from the album cover, to its strident sound and lyrics (which is obviously what makes this message more evident).

Let's start from the beginning, with the ... read more

Happiness can sometimes come at a price.

I want to start this review by saying something positive, something that doesn’t happen too often in my writing, but I have been doing exceptionally well over the past week or so. I’ve been pretty happy and that’s mainly down to my amazing partner whom I love very much. I wanted to start with that as, I’m not sure in which direction this review will take yet as, for the past couple of hours I have been feeling rather low, not ... read more

The South Korean Shoegaze and Emo project Parannoul are really onto something with their LP, 'To See the Next Part of the Dream'. I was curious as to who was behind this and what they were about, but once you look into it, Parannoul is an anonymous figure that no one really knows anything about besides what they say in their bandcamp bio, "Just a student writing music in my bedroom", and once you press play on the first track it's pretty clear that is the case, and that statement is ... read more

This felt like the moment before you finally die. Every memory I had, bad or good, came full circle as I listened to this fantastic album. I've always thought shoegaze is the most powerful genre at least for me because it can both embody celestial and terrestrial spaces. I have been recently bottling up emotions and this was a release for me. Thank you so much Parannoul for this gift of life. Until my death shall come.

This album is an example of why I value my time with the AOTY community. I may have never heard of this Korean band's opus and I would have missed out on something truly special. My first listen to this I was overwhelmed by the reverby vocals and walls of sound which created a sadness I just couldn't place due to the language barrier. I went in for a second listen with translated lyrics and I can say Parannoul purvey their intent perfectly with their sound. This album washes over you, walls of ... read more

Alright THIS is why I do check RYM from time to time. This is fantastic, and I really think a lot of you guys would get tons of enjoyment out of it. It's long and there could be more variety, BUT- this is some incredibly atmospheric, somber, lofi emo/dream pop/garage rock. It really feels like an AOTY-core type album and it's REALLY good in my opinion. Again, it's a pretty similar sound throughout but I enjoy every single song, they all are so emotionally powerful. I clicked with this thing ... read more

We got ouservels a triumph shoegaze masterpiece, holy fuck. Out of nowhere this band from south korea just became an instant favorite!!!???!! 파란노을 (Parannoul) which I discovered means 'Blue Sunset', is so fucking awesome. I don't even need to describe how atmospheric and intense this is, it made me a little emotional. The artwork is minimalist to perfection, every song hits a different spot as a common sense. I honestly hope this album goes to spotify and such cause I legit need to ... read more

I definitely desire more from the sound palette (It's really nothing incredibly new in the grand scheme of Shoegaze), but these lyrics hit deep. Definitely would recommend it to anyone though, could easily end up being one of your favorites from the year even if it wasn't one of mine.

I strongly encourage everyone who listens to this album to also read along with the lyrics. This is some incredibly heavy stuff. Don't have much to say in the way of a formal review but this album, despite presenting itself with dreamy soundscapes, is widly dark. I had a hard time committing to reading the lyrics due to their intensity, but wow...

To See the Next Part of the Dream is interesting. It's rough around the edges, its lyrics are some of the darkest I've heard in shoegaze and Parannoul is completely anonymous. Although I'd love to see the person behind this alias, the idea of this artist having no identity to provide is fitting. It can make it easier for the listener to put themselves in the shoes of the protagonist. That's how I see it. I'm not going to get into the production, because there are obvious flaws that I honestly ... read more

Even for a shoegaze record, this one is quite poorly produced. The vocals, which already don't sound very skillfully or confident, are additionally devastated by the bombastic instrumental. Melodies are rather basic, there's nothing interesting in the selection of sounds, and thus the lyrics, which are sometimes deep and touching, but also have their flaws, are the most personal and standing-out feature of "To See the Next Part of the Dream".

happy to be getting back into reviewing albums, still working on the yurameki in the air review, expect it soon!

this album offers lo-fi shoegaze with an immersive experience. this record has some mixed opinions, as people tend to point out the midi instruments or shitty mixing. my take is that it adds to the experience and environment captured by the album, the artist dropped this album completely anonymously, not stating his name, showing his face or even stating if anyone else chimed into ... read more

I always love a good shoegaze album, so when I heard the rave reviews of Parannoul's "To See the Next Part of the Dream", a Korean shoegaze album, I was obviously very eager to check it out. Although it doesn't compare to the My Bloody Valentines and Slowdives, it definitely serves as a great introduction to both Parannoul and the Korean music scene in general. Many of the sounds tackled here are great and string together to form some truly addicting compositions. The instrumentations ... read more

Mannnnnnn the vocals really keep this from being something I come back to over and over. Instrumentals were nearly flawless, drums punchy as fuck and guitarplay had a nice mid 90s sunny day real estate vibe to them. i think a few tracks dragged on wayyy too long and i wish there was a bit more diversity in the tracklist.
who knows maybe i revisit this and get used to the bad mixing on the vocals.

«To See the Next Part of the Dream» takes shoegaze's cathartic effect and pushes it into new dimensions.

I listened to the album with my expectations relatively high because of rym comments like "best shoegaze album of the decade". Well, I won't deny I was skeptical at first, but as soon as «Beautiful World» played I knew for a fact I was standing before a masterpiece, and all my expectations were quickly surpassed.

While distortion and noise may seem to ... read more
