I've only seen the film once (so far) but listening to the soundtrack already feels so warm and familiar. Stellar work.
edit: Eff it, this is perfect. 95 -> 100.
I’ve always felt like a great score should tell the story of the film through the music. If a composer is doing his job, the music - in my opinion - should remind you of the story you’ve seen and hopefully hit the same emotional notes. This is so beautiful. The well paced simplistic and concise arrangements are filled with contemplative bittersweet spaciousness that completely hypnotised me. I loved the recurring motifs. It’s incredibly moving and atmospheric. This release sent shivers down my spine and almost made me cry. I don’t need to see this film because it already played in my head. The Ost for Minari is by far one of my favorite movie soundtracks. I enjoyed the movie, thought it was like a 7/10 and because of the praise I was kind of let down, but the Ost elevated the movie so much I would say it's like an 8. The Ost sounds emotional and melancholy, but it also gives a sense that there is more to come from life and to keep on going and not to give up.
I haven't even seen the film yet but judging by the score, I'm in for a great one. Emile Mosseri has become one of my favorite composers of the past couple of years. The Last Black Man In San Francisco, Kajillionaire, and now this, he's just someone to look out for.
