The latest from this Belgian drone metal band is a deviation from their previous body of work, Éons, as this limited LP is instead a live reworking of their first original 'Conference of the Stars' arrangement, substituting the improvisational jazz oeuvre with a psychedelic rock mix, and a length increased by over threefold. God bless Drone music
When you enter this genre of music, you end up getting addicted to variations of drone music, and from the first time I listened to the band Neptunian Maximalism I fell in love with their album, Éons.
When I saw that they were going to release the Solar Drone Ceremony this year, it was certainly one of the most anticipated albums for me.

I mean, I wasn't really expecting another Eons, but man I can't help but feel disappointed by this. From what I've read, this is actually a remake/remaster/re-whatever of one of NM's earlier projects, and yeah it does feel like an older work. It feels much less... fleshed out, I guess you could say? It's pretty standard drone metal with some psychedelic flair that makes it pretty interesting, but overall, this is less than essential. This was incredible. Haven’t listened to much drone music or this band at all. I was drawn in by the cover, and by god does it deliver on that vibe. 52 minutes long and it feels like 20 at most.
