“I don’t care if you’ve got a dick and I don’t care if you’ve got a WAP, I just want to love.” - Demi Lovato, 2021

I appreciate what she was trying to do with this album and I commend her for being open, but this album is just unfortunately too long and doesn’t have enough compelling songs to make this anything more than decent for me.

If this album was 10-12 tracks, it still wouldn’t be fantastic but it would be a much better experience, ... read more

Demi Lovato is an artist that has been lost for a very long time, actually since her debut she's been stuck in the same type of writing and production. But maybe this time, for real, she's discovering her own sound. She saw too much, lived too much, she experienced trauma heavily, her voice resonates all of that and yet her music used to reflect only her sorrow without TRUE self reflection.
In 'Dancing With The Devil... The Art of Starting Over' her poetic sense blossomed, apart from some ... read more

O álbum começa de forma muito boa com "Anyone", "dancing with the devil" e "I.C.U", três faixas com vocais poderosos e letras ... read more

eating disorders and alcohol dependency are both horrible things that i don’t wish anyone ever has to go through. and i’m so glad demi has recovered. this is a very emotional album lyrically and it’s honestly kinda refreshing to see a popstar be this open about eating disorders, a struggle that many people endure but few people talk about. however, musically this album is a little lackluster. sure, there are great songs like anyone and the cover of mad world, but overall this ... read more

After a near brush with death back in 2018 due to an overdose, Demi Lovato took time to work on her recovery and then put her creative energy into making a project that reflected her new way of living. While I think the album is flawed in its overall execution, “Dancing With the Devil...The Art of Starting Over” is an admirable concept from the pop star.

Being released alongside a YouTube Red documentary with the same name, “Dancing With the Devil...The Art of Starting ... read more

So we already have the album of the year for the next Grammy. (Of course, before Taylor Swift released anything).

To be honest, before the album started, I didn't like it, I had a certain prejudice, especially after I saw the names of the participations. My impressions fell right away when I heard the first 3 songs, which I really found very interesting, you can feel her pain singing the lyrics, and they have a very mature sound, which unfortunately ends there.

After "Intro", all ... read more

Though I have never been a huge fan of Demi Lovato as an artist, she was part of my childhood and seeing her grow out of Disney and have her ups and downs made me have a lot of respect for her. When I watched the first two parts of the documentary that she released last week, where she talks very openly about the overdose she suffered in 2018, I realized how incredibly strong she is and it made me very excited to listen to the record.

From what I saw on the documentary, I expected her to be ... read more

Dancing With the Devil: the Art of Starting Over is the seventh studio album from former Disney star Demi Lovato. Released in the middle of Easter Friday with a name referring to the devil (Gaga was canceled for less), the album contains an unhealthy 19 tracks that will tell the story of past hardships during her hospitalization for an overdose, as well as her recovery and reunion with herself after signing with Scooter Braun. Promising innovations, and a different vibe, will it be possible to ... read more

It's been 4 years since Demi’s last album release and a lot has transpired since 2017. Most people probably know about Demi’s past, and if you don’t her new album Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over covers this topic pretty well. The vulnerability displayed ... read more

I thought the lyrics would be sharper cuz of all the events that occurred before she made this album but whatever the album has a bunch of catchy songs but the production is just simple and basic

This album really grew on me. On first listen, every song sounded the same & Demi's voice got grating.

However after a few more listens, I got to really appreciate the album's cheerful vibe & catchy writing.

The biggest issue with the album is large amount of fillers, hence my score. The album could've easily been condensed into 13 tracks.

Tracks that shouldn't have made it: The Way You Don't..., What Other People Say, Mad World (cover was completely pointless), Butterfly & Good ... read more

This is an interesting record. Whether that be good or bad, I’ve yet to decide, but it’s interesting nonetheless. I find it interesting conceptually and thematically, being titled Dancing With The Devil... The Art of Starting Over, and then in essence having the record start at two separate points. It’s interesting. But it doesn’t really hold me. Nor do I feel like it sticks with the “dancing with the devil” and “starting over” themes very ... read more

This album was actually really good, and I'm pleasantly surprised! Any 19-track album is bound to have its fillers and flaws, but Dancing With The Devil doesn't have all that many. Many of these tracks obviously come from somewhere deep in Demi's heart, and even the more casual, danceable ones are lots of fun to listen to. So yeah, despite its length, I really enjoyed listening to Dancing With The Devil and I'm sure it'll only grow in the future!

Since the day that will happen that would leave the biggest among its scars, the public, media and even the singer herself were wishing the singer’s improvement so that she could return to the stage stronger than ever. No one pressured you to let your return happen, or at least you had the common sense to be quiet and respect time of Demi. Which, in one way or another, helped her give herself some time, the time needed to go head-on against her demons, to understand and love yourself more ... read more

Exceeded expectations? Probably. It's obviously "heavy" due to the lyrical content and the theme that is approached, but the way the whole project is cohesive and yet branches out to different sound arrangements is very interesting and pleasing.

Standout tracks: The Art of Starting Over, Lonely People, Met Him Last Night, Easy, Butterfly.

"Dancing With The Devil ... The Art Of Starting Over" is an album that goes beyond what mainstream pop tends to achieve. Demi Lovato has outdone herself professionally and shows a maturity that not every teen artist provides to their audience. The messages worked on the lyrical content of the project as a whole are very sincere and inspiring, tracing Demi's entire trajectory, from his ruin to his personal well-being. The intro as track 4 distinguishing the 2 worlds that the singer ... read more

Vendo os comentários que esse álbum tava recebendo do pessoal da minha bolha nas redes sociais eu fui ouvir com bastante expectativa, mas soa o contrario do que estavam dizendo sobre ele, achei algumas musicas com arranjos e sonoridade bem infantis e datadas, "Lonely people" é um bom exemplo, "What Other People Say" também é bem cafona, as melhores partes do album ficaram com as colaborações com Ariana Grande em "Met Him ... read more
