Nostalgia: The Album
EDIT: seriously though its impressive that a single album can contain nostalgia for two completely different time periods at the same time
It has some amazing songs, but it also has a lot of extremely forgettable tracks throughout it’s entirety. Love some of tracks on here a lot. Maybe her next stuff wins me over more
"Call Me Maybe" was a song I never took that seriously, even at 11. So, I thought the positive feedback for "Emotion" was a joke. Especially when the lead single really, really, really annoyed me when it came out. But here I am listening to it and I was very surprised by this! The 80's pop aesthetics are tastefully done, the typical subjects of boy loving are handled extremely well with Carly Rae Jepsen's great songwriting and the hooks are irresistibly catchy! Nothing about ... read more

"What the fuck have they made me listen to? I dunno if I'm gonna get into this dawg" was my legit first reaction to the album in the first 4 seconds. I didn't like where it was going… then I checked out the overwhelming love the album got, and I was intrigued more than fearful.
Then I listened to the album and realized…
How overrated this dog shit album is, what the fuck are you people listening to?!
I have so much beef with this album right now.
I'm legit ... read more
I’ve only ever heard I Really Like You and Call Me Maybe, the latter of which is the reason why I’ve never took Carly Rae Jepsen seriously. I decided to give her a chance, and…
“I really, really, really, really, really, really” like this album. It’s not very much of a masterpiece because it’s a tiny bit dated and the lyrics aren’t that good, but goddammit, this album’s got a real charm to it, and all the songs are very catchy.

E•MO•TION - Carly Rae Jepsen
Not even joking, it’s 4:00 a.m. when I’m starting this… don’t say I never did anything for y’all!
Happy 500-800 follower special! I appreciate all of y’all who have been supporting me and just the kindness and positivity that has ... read more
Genuinely one of my favorite pop albums of the decade. Everything about it, from the slick and bombastic 80s-inspired production to Carly's endearingly boy-crazy persona, is just so damn charming.
also it just straight up slaps
Favorite Tracks: Run Away With Me, Emotion, I Really Like You, Gimmie Love, Boy Problems, Making The Most of The Night, When I Needed You
Near pop-perfection right here!!!
We all know Carly Rae Jepsen since she propelled into stardom in 2012 with Call Me Maybe (and yes, I do like that song), and she has over time become a well known name, especially in the US.
E•MO•TION was released in August 2015. Carly was looking to distance herself from the Bubblegum-Pop sound of her 2012 album Kiss.
She took inspiration for her this album with 80s music and alternative styles, getting a variety of names to collab in making ... read more
Goshdarn it 80's nostalgia baiting in pop music! How do you consistently end up creating some of the best pop albums in years?!
EMOTION might not have been nowhere as successful as her previous album Kiss in terms of sales, but that wasn't Carly's intention in any way. Instead she took her time and collaborated with producers and songwriters of her choice to craft an excellently produced, catchy as hell and just all around really solid pop album; not only that but one of the best of the 2010s. ... read more
My only real exposure to CRJs work was the smash hit Call Me Maybe, so off of that I was never really intrigued enough to check her other works out. Safe to say that this album pretty much blew all expectations out of the water. “E•MO•TION” is a fucking amazing Synthpop bangers album. First 4 tracks especially are so dan good, genuinely some top contenders for best songs of the decade for damn sure. Sadly I feel like the rest of the album doesn’t quite reach those ... read more

If you are STRAIGHT and work for a MUSIC PUBLICATION IN 2015 but want to seem WELL-ROUNDED when it comes to POP MUSIC then it's very IMPORTANT that you OVERHYPE this record.
E•MO•TION a pleasant album with some of the most nostalgic tunes ever. Production is very smooth and with a great groove on the tracks. Carly Rae Jepsen also does great performance on the tracks with charm and amazing energy. The only few issues I have with this project its some not-that-good lyrics and some outdated effects and moments but the rest is amazing.
Inspired by the 80s, Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Emotion' can be safely called a cultural reset.
I decided to devote my 200th review to this album because it's very special to me. 'Emotion' helped me get through hard times and change outlook on life and music.
Few years ago, I did not pay much attention to music at all, but then I listened to 'Run Away With Me' for the first time. From that moment my life changed, and it seemed strange to me because it was just a song that caught my ... read more
yet another album i forgot to rate, there are some songs that i really really really really really really like (lol) but others are just there for me
Thinking critically about E-MO-TION is a near impossible task. The mythology surrounding the album has eclipsed any conversation about the actual contents. I am still surprised by its universal support, and I often wonder what about it made it such a force of nature during 2015 and even today. Before DED-I-CAT-ED comes out, I wanted to return and think about what made this album so special to me; what did I love about CRJ and what was special about this album in particular? This is also a ... read more
