I confess that I wasn't a fan of all the vocals on this album. That being said, there's some really great songs on here that did grab my attention. This album is not perfect, but overall I thought it was a solid listen.
ROLLING STONE #463
This took me several listens to get into, but at this point, I can confidently say I respect a lot of tracks here that I may not necessarily enjoy. To focus on the positive takeaways, this album sounds much ahead of its time. The instrumentation is clearly influential to other piano-led acts like Elton John, and you know the songwriting is stellar when the demos included at the end are nearly as enjoyable as their finished versions. I'm confused a bit, like the vocals don't fit the songs well and the vocal style is so....wrong sounding. The instrumentals have this explosive 60s sound and I think all of these songs have potential, if maybe given to a different singer....
