pallbearer's debut showcases the beginning of a style of doom metal that they will soon perfect on their sophomore effort. this project has the same atmosphere and musical style as it's successor, however there is an element to this project that makes it much more raw and natural than foundations of burden. the raw element is something that holds back this album though; some areas of some tracks sound like they were mastered incorrectly or toned down in the mixing process. the vocals were ... read more
This album is, front to back, bookended with stoner metal with a classic, Black Sabbath feel to their sound. It's slow and steady and in only 5 songs it manages to win over top all metal I've heard so far in 2012.
