Beats Per Minute

The band is on fire for the entirety of the short-and-savage Perfect, balancing that joyous pop-punk that made Patience such a jam but still proving they can shred when necessary.

There’s the familiar Mannequin Pussy and then there’s a new side that glows; you can’t quite see it until it’s right in front of you, but you’re intrigued by it anyways.

The Line of Best Fit
Though the EP doesn’t quite feel like bold new territory for the band, it does find them equally blunt and blistering.

No Ripcord
It’s the ultimate sample platter for a band who defiantly refuses to meet your expectations, and for everything it lacks in consistency, it more than makes up for in offering a heart-bled moment that will burn bright for someone.

Northern Transmissions
The EP only clocks in at just over 13 minutes but the group milks every ounce of blood and tears shed over the last year into every single second of its running time.

The two punk cuts are okay, but the other songs are fantastic. I love the writing, vocals, and guitar work. The wailing vocals on 'To Lose You' are amazing. That's easily the best song here.

Favorite tracks: Control, Pigs Is Pigs, Darling

My first thoughts are: Damn this is some hard hitting indie although the opening song is mid.

‘Perfect’ has blistering 90s punk fire and ‘To Lose You’ is melodically rising and poppy. ‘Pigs Is Pigs’ gets a massive nod from me for it’s Turnstile swagger.

A short and sweet EP.

I was recently fortunate enough to see Japanese Breakfast live on tour, and Mannequin Pussy was their opening set! I hadn’t heard their music before then, but they put on a fantastic performance full of personality and energy, so I figured it would be worth checking them out.

There’s a punk edge to their brand of chaotic, rugged indie rock. Marsia’s impassioned vocal delivery ranges from delicate balladry to hoarse screeches, and the rough mixing adds to the rebellious spunk ... read more
