Hannah Peel is arguably most well known for hosting the eclectic late-night BBC Radio 3 show Night Tracks in which she provides a mix of relaxing and alternative classical and electronica. This inspiration has drifted into her work as Fir Wave feels like an episode of that very show as Hannah mixes ambient electronica with elements of organic techno, IDM and hints of more traditional instrumentation. I’ll admit I’m not the best when it comes to electronic and light techno etc but this was a joy. Got a bit muddled in the middle but kept me interested with far more complexity and intricacy than expected
Better stuff out there
Electronica with glimpses of a more classical / traditionally instrumented perspective. I love the spacious arrangements present throughout the album, they felt like moments to breathe and take in the music in the constant ebb and flow of the album's sonic landscape. I was very excited for this release, and I'm glad I wasn't too let down.
