CRITIC REVIEWS

80
Mojo

Beijing producer and Snoop Lion remixer continues his singular path with a heady collision of folk and modernity.

76
Pitchfork
At once fine-grained and expansive, Lee’s work combines traditional Chinese music and historical references with wild electronic experimentation.
70
Loud and Quiet

By the time Birdy Island reaches its placid climax, you almost wish you were there, wandering around, basking in its celestial, corporate-funded calm – whatever the admission price.

Calm, soothing, worship like ambient sound. Good fusion some times. Could be better.

"Birdy Island" is another album with chinese influences from a visual artist. I see this pattern a lot lately, and I must say that in comparison with other relevant albums that I have listened, this is by far the weakest. It is a messy album, most of the tracks sound like collage of sounds with no coherence.
