the third installment of 'convocations' is vastly different than the first two, it feels much more intense and even bolder.

flush with colorful music, 'revelations' is full of drastic changes. at times it sounds like familiar territory for stevens, yet 'revelations' is unlike any other sufjan release in terms of ambient detail.

Revelations is the third section of Sufjan Stevens' 5-part Convocations project

I discussed more fully in previous reviews that the full project is Steven's take on grief, having lost his father in September of 2020. I also came to the conclusion that, though there are the more established 5 Stages of Grief, this project isn't supposed to be a one-to-one parallel and as such, we've reached the third stage in Stevens' own take on grief.

Much more consistently good-sounding than the previous two Convocations albums released so far. Hopefully the next two will be as good or better.
Surprisingly the best of the series yet, and those were some of his better work the the last several years.
