cleopatrick take the opposite approach to the sounds that Royal Blood once dominated. Instead of going the dance punk route, the band goes for a more garage sound that uses a ton of fuzz to generate their vibes. To that end, it keeps their music interesting.

While that new Citizen album is easily my front runner for this style Cleopatrick do a decent job of the #2010s rock sound left behind by Highly Suspect and Royal Blood.

The dynamics are here from the two-piece and it’s noisy albiet a little too raw in a sense that while the drums sound lively the cymbals also sound too tinny and the guitars have that hanging-on-one-note intensity but fail to deliver any counter melody while Luke Gruntz is left to do the heavy lifting and sometimes ... read more
