Therein lies the key to approaching Heady Fwends: What at first seems rather silly actually proves to be quite purposeful.

The triumph of Heady Fwends lies the way it sands off the rough edges off 2011’s excess and whittles an honest, enjoyable set out of the mire while coaxing a wealth of unexpected voices into the fray without losing its way.


When you break it all down, the Flaming Lips seemed to have stopped giving a damn, and it’s a wonderful thing to behold

What is 2012? That riff sounds like shit. Kesha sounds kind of annoying on here too. That refrain sounds pretty interesting though, I like the effects on the vocals, the psychedelic synth chords later on are cool too. But really I'm just DIGGING for anything good in this song, and I'm coming out with virtually nothing. This really isn't an amazing track.
