J. Cole dropped a interlude as the lead single to the album which I thought was slightly confusing until I heard how crazy Cole went. J. Cole’s vocals seem to automatically adjust to the soothing sample as they sound slightly sturdy. The production is so good as the sample-based instrumental is beautiful, being a wonderful decision to use a sample-based instrumental as those type of beats are taking over 2021 so far, while the drums hit hard and enhance the quality of the beat. It’s a solid song with some good production, and J Cole is solid on here despite the heavy and somewhat annoying autotune, but it’s kind of a head-scratching choice to release an interlude as a single.

I mean, I like the song and think it would be solid as an interlude somewhere in an album’s track list, but I’m just confused why this is the lead single. I was already excited for the album, but I can’t imagine this making anyone who wasn’t already excited ... read more

J. Cole might just drop his best work in the coming week, cause this track is fucking crazy. And it's only the interlude, which is also weird that he used it as the lead single.
