'The Voice of the Heroes', a collaborative album between Atlanta artist, Lil Baby, and Chicago artist, Lil Durk, is a crisp, cool trap project that gives you a good idea of the trap genre currently, being one of my favorite trap collaborative albums that I've heard. The album explored every single corner of the trap genre, not missing out on any mood, containing the aggressive bangers, emotional, pain-filled songs, anti-snitching anthems, and even some excellent songs that slightly touch the ... read more

If you told me a year ago that I would actually somewhat enjoy a collab album from Lil Baby & Lil Durk, I would have laughed at you and thought you were completely insane. But here we are, and here it is, and I do actually enjoy it quite a bit.

Over the last year, Lil Baby has started slowly growing on me. I actually think Lil Baby has really stepped it up and has been one of the most consistent rappers of 2021. His features have been pretty good, and his solo songs have gotten much better ... read more

James Harden, eh?

I wanted to not review this one, but i saw the criticism and i said, fuck it, let's give this shit some praise for once.

Lil Baby & Durkio are some of my favourite current rappers. They both have proven to me that they are worth it and that they deserve the fame and clout they've been receiving in the last couple of years. Lil Baby has been extremely consistent recently, always delivering some interesting thought-provoking and encouraging verses and killing his features ... read more

Offensively inoffensive is the perfect description for this album

The only thing I can commend The Voice of the Heroes on is just how inoffensive and boiler-plate it is. In a lot of the ways that led to the critical demise of the underrated masterpiece WUNNA, this album survives in playlists by virtue of its base-level sound. On an hour of material, Lil Baby and Lil Durk hardly ever put forward any tracks of real substance, and despite Lil Baby's proven talent from the surprisingly great My Turn last year, his performances here hardly ever compare to anything ... read more

The Voice Of The Heroes" is ultimately a gruelingly bloated record that fails to feature the best of either artist.

I won't lie. I'm not the biggest fan of either of these artists. Well, that's not completely true. My real qualm with Durk & Baby's popularity is that both of these artists are so unnecessary in the mainstream. I'm not questioning their talents, I've personally enjoyed a handful of features and tracks from these artists, however, you can't tell me that Durk or Baby are ... read more

This, I'm really happy to say, was quite a pleasant surprise. I've never thought all that highly of either Lil Baby or Lil Durk but, on "The Voice of the Heroes", they efficiently exercise their chemistry to make a record that, although a bit tedious and tiresome by the second half, comes with its fair share of bangers. Some of the best tracks from either track appeared on this record, demonstrating sleek and punchy production that the flows effortlessly capitalise off. Baby and Durk ... read more

I’ve never liked Lil Baby (though I will admit that The Bigger Picture and many of his recent features have actually been pretty good) and Lil Durk is someone I know very little about. So, I had very low expectations for this album and I expected to dislike it, but I ended up being surprised by my inability to legitimately dislike this.

Look. I don’t think this album is bad. But it definitely ain’t good either. It’s very middling and even tedious and boring at moments, ... read more

i’ve never been the biggest fan of either of these people until recently but this album was surprised me. i was pretty surprised by how much i actually enjoyed it considering everything. both of them had very solid verses throughout the entire album and they both had great chemistry the entire time.

the features were great, no complaints really except as always, i’d love to see female rappers in these albums. both lil durk and baby have collaborated with megan thee stallion and ... read more

Previously I did not know how to feel about this project because recently I have began to enjoy lil baby features and he’s had a few songs that I genuinely enjoy plus while not hearing anything from duel at all really I loved his feature on laugh now cry later earlier this year. But as much as I was anticipating this collab it’s a boring drag that just gives us the same song over and over with both rappers only seeming to do the bare minimum besides a few moments.

First off this ... read more

I'm not a big fan of either Baby or Durk, but honestly they both did pretty well on this project. My main problem with this album is the production. I couldn't really hear anything special about these beats and it made the 18 track length a bit hard to get through. It's an okay project but nothing special.

Favorite tracks: Hats Off, Man of my Word
Least favorite: Medical

Yeah I mean it definitely means something to me when Lil Durk is carrying another artist on almost every track. I like a few of the songs quite a bit, but like many of them are filler and just sound the same. The beats here are all generic, the flows from Lil Baby get repetitive and the features hardly do anything apart from Meek Mill and Rod Wave kinda.

durk baby

no chopsquad dj = not good

lil durk and lil baby, who i once saw as completely inessential to the rap world, are two of my most watched artists in the mainstream. there are both full of potential and most likely able to drop albums that could go down as genuine classics but have yet to do so. lil baby has dropped a number of songs in the past year that i think are absolutely excellent and essential for consumers of mainstream trap. the bigger picture, grace, we paid, sum 2 prove, ... read more

I really want to like these guys but it becomes a problem where I'm halfway through the album and can't identify a single song from another. There is not one song above a 7/10 or below a 6/10 but because it is so one dimensional its below average. New generation trash rn.

Though there are definitely highlights that surprised me, this album drags on due to being bloated and being filled with filler content.

I have always been entertained by Durk’s style of rap and voice as opposed to my usual disinterest in Lil Baby’s solo music. This is why it comes as a shock that he is up to par and sometimes outshines Lil Durk on here. The rapping by both is good and not what makes this album bad.

Most of the lyrics deal with hardships both have faced coming ... read more

Hats Off is fucking awesome

EDIT: Gave it a score. This should've been Lil Baby on drill beats.

The 2021 trap manifesto. Lil durk and lil baby perfectly complement each other and although the production is o nothing new in an already saturated environment such as the trap gente is today, baby’s rapping flow and durk’s voice create a unique combination. Great record to vibe to while working out too.

Lil Baby & Lil Durk surpass expectations with a highly energetic, consistent, and cohesive project that, yes, is a little too long, but is as good as an album with 18 tracks and 1 hour of material can be. Color me impressed because this might be the best collab project of the year.

I was really worried that 'The Voice of the Heroes' would succumb to its hour runtime and become tiring after 10 tracks in, but it really kept going and rarely faltered. And the cuts that represent the ... read more
