it gets a little repetitive, but that doesnt stop this from being easily the worlds best shoegaze album and one of the best albums of the 90's. the soft vocals over guitar riffs and a very soothing atmosphere put my bloody valentine in their own league, this LP shows what they can really do. classic.

Totally respect and appreciate what Kevin Shields and co. brought to the table with this album. From a sonic perspective, it's definitely one of the greatest albums in existence.

That being said, there's something that really keeps me from completely enjoying Loveless.

Is it the drums that, on several songs, just sound like they're being looped over and over for up to 5 minutes with almost no variation? Is it the song structures which, more often than not, are comprised of just a couple ... read more

One of the few pieces of music that will make me cry in public (it is this and 'Lucky,' by Britney Spears.)

Loveless is like intentionally crawling in a melodic garbage disposal. The subtle chord shifts feel massive in the cacophony of sounds. It is the type of album the demands attention, and I can't do anything but listen in awe. I love being enveloped in the chaos of this record.

Easily, one of my top 15 albums ever. My bloody valentine created a masterpiece of the shoegaze genre. Their LP album loveless has a heavy distorted use of guitars thanks to kevin shield. With the soundscape of the album oozing in innovated reverb, while the vocals are in the back burn. This is a perfect album for me if i'm stress or exhausted. Favourite tracks are the following:Only shallow, When you sleep, Loomer and Soon.

Tip: don't listen to this with headphones, it will probably give you a headache. Blast this out on shitty speakers when you're crying while sitting alone in your room to get the ultimate shoegaze experience

I can safely say that this is one of the best pop albums of all time. In fact, the production and mixing on here is quite mind-blowing as I continue to revisit this when I have the chance to.

When Kevin Shields and co. debuted with the album Isn't Anything, a few years before the release of Loveless, the whole music universe started to change. Of course, there were many other groups using 'texture' and different soundcrafts to build psychedelic and experimental music before them. This technique had already invaded the pop world, with bands like Jesus and Mary Chain and Spacemen 3 prompting at the early stages of what would later be called shoegaze, or noise-pop (not the same, ... read more

Outstanding–––

Perfect introduction to shoegaze, this record has an impossible to replicate sound to it. With its reverb arpeggioatic guitars and dense overall sound, this record sonically blew me away. It may get a bit too repetitive for me at some points, but it doesn’t drag the album down a lot.

I am a child of the 90s so of course many of my favorite albums come from these years. Im an Hip-hop lover, I discovered rock by band of alternative rock of my generation such as RATM, Pixies, Nirvana, Radiohead but also the Icelandic band My Bloody Valentine. "Loveless" is Shoegaze's most important, most essential album for any shoegazer purist. This album mixes perfectly noise (chaotic guitar) and melody (chilling and cold). The virtuosity of the sound, the textures, the melodies, ... read more

♪ Close my eyes, feel me now ♪

The moment the track Sometimes kicks off, we often feel like Scarlett Johansson or Bill Murray wandering around Tokyo late at night, just dwelling on our past and gazing at the window waiting for the dawn. Loveless, apart from being the most famous shoegaze album ever, is an experience I rarely had since I got interested in music. The guitar riffs on Only Shallow plunge us immediately into this noisy yet dreamy atmosphere we are about to dive in for the next ... read more

This is what it would sound like if a brick going 40 miles per hour made contact with my skull and my brain was trying to keep me alive and conscious. My head hurts after listening to this and i feel like i need some aspirin. I like other shoegaze but i can’t take this.

Loveless is an absolute incredible record not only for pop music at that time, but as much as a whole due to it launching one of the most unique subgenres in music around this time, shoegaze. Loveless' experimental production is one of a kind with druggy filled riffs that even though are pretty simple, they come they were they're performed it becomes just something else. Atmospheric vocals also blend in with each song. Just like how the production varies from each track the vocals do as well to ... read more

This album is so overrated. Maybe I'm just not getting it. Because it's just boring and drags for almost the whole time. The only song that was actually great was When You Sleep.

Absolutely one of the most dynamic and lush sounding albums ever created. The swirling, spiraling, and droning guitars are absolutely mouthwatering and percussion is mixed in perfectly as well. The vocals are at times unintelligible, but that is because they blend so well with the instruments that they allow them become the focal point of the album. It doesn't even matter that the lyrics actually have real emotional weight behind them as well, because all of the different sounds alone can ... read more

In my opinion, the best album of the 90s. Initially it might sound weird, due to the distorted sound, but after some effort the listener begins to notice that behind the strident guitars emerge ethereal, almost angelic vocals and unforgettable melodies. Loveless is not an album that catches you right away; it takes dedication until it reveals all its nuances. Best tracks: "Soon", "Sometimes", "When You Sleep", "Come In Alone" and "Only Shallow".

I've listened to this a few times, and I am really struggling to like what others think is so good about Loveless. I think some of the record's trademark distorted guitar sounds are interesting, and the drum loops that are sometimes labeled "repetitive" I don't have much of an issue with. But... I think this album is boring. It really lacks variation between tracks, and for the most part it lacks emotion. I'm aware that this "drugged out" sound is part of what makes this ... read more

¡Santa Madonna! Inalcanzable, inigualable e insano.

"Loveless" has been rendered almost mythic by a well-met reputation putting on high the audible, entrancing dissolution of sound. The praise, partly owing to the lesser exposure of shoegaze, partly owing to appeal of an integral marriage of texture and mood, is deserved.

An aesthetically pleasing album, but not all to memorable. Only shallow is the only real stand out track. The rest is just really good background music, which isn't a bad thing, but it keeps me from giving this as great of a review as everyone else gives it.

Honestly this is an age and environmental thing, as well as just a me thing. I kinda found this cliche, and I know why. This was pretty much what started those cliches and that's not a bad thing to me. This is basically a base or a template for artists for the future to add their own input and as both that and an album itself, I really have no complaints about it, other than it gets a bit repetitive in some songs. But man, this did not click, at all. Again though, this is probably ... read more
