It’s this ability to switch pace from intimate tender Americana to thundering sonic juggernauts that often owe something of a debt to My Bloody Valentine that make Twin Plagues such a compelling and at times unsettling listen.
A coming-of-age record of sorts, loose clippings of memory bob in and out of squalls of feedback.
Is this what you do on your Wednesdays?
Pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed Wednesday’s 2021 album quite a bit! I assumed I’d like it, but their new album is hard to beat. This one is a lot more straightforward, but still has great moments. It’s just some good Indie Rock with a Shoegaze tinge. The album especially picked up for me in the second half. I LOVE One More Last One. Definitely one of the better Shoegaze songs that I’ve heard recently. It’s so euphoric. ... read more
a big crunchy peanut butter shoegaze sandwich. missed it when it came out but glad I caught up to it. yet another excellent newish band from Asheville, NC. they are at about the same developmental stage as Slow Pulp and DEHD, and a little behind Cindy, but the next Great American Indie Band will be one of these four and you heard it here first.

Wednesday's second LP, Twin Plagues, is an endearingly messy project. I like these spiraling, miserable guitars on the title track. Three Sisters is fast-paced and intense with its guitar but the album combats the speed of some of the emo tracks by including a more folk sound on some of these tracks. The guitar on How Can You Live If You Can't Love How Can You If You Do is lovely. The ... read more
Whilst not as polished and well-developed as later releases, Twin Plagues is a fantastic shoegaze/alt-country album that is definitely worth the 34 minutes. I comend the band for really making a sound for themselves
‘Twin Plagues’ is a refinement of Wednesday’s sound on all fronts. The grainy guitars and strained vocals are more vibrant than before, retaining their rough indie edges but with clearer intent. There’s also a thematic balance struck between their love songs and tongue-in-cheek observations on rural American culture, which is most blatant on tracks such as “The Burned Down Dairy Queen,” but also found in smaller details like the Dallas Cowboys urn mentioned ... read more
The album is very solid and is probably more consistent than rat saw god but it’s still better
