This is Public Image Ltd continuing to be what it has always been: an endless, enthralling exploration of Lydon’s ever-roiling mind.
It may not be of the calibre of Metal Box, but it finds its maker firmly in 2012, not 1979, and with plenty still to grouse about.
.. a reminder of the band's former genius and a treat for longtime fans who should appreciate at least half the album as solid PiL work.
On the surface, it looks and sounds (somewhat) like P.I.L., but in the end, it’s a rather soulless copy.
He’s also fallen back into self-reference, only now it can be properly called by another name: self-caricature.
In case you forgot it, this is PIL, not the PIL you knew 20 years before, but an updated version that maintains part of the past glory.
