‘Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies’ doesn’t broaden Aalegra’s sound or lyrical content greatly, and there are certainly points where she could push things further forward. But in continuing to be so open and expressive about love, hope, and loss, she makes it feel possible for the rest of us.

The Line of Best Fit

Normally a sought-out feature artist, Aalegra solidifies herself as a formidable solo artist with TEMPORARY HIGHS - an addicting 46-minute listen that grows with consecutive approaches.

HipHopDX
At its best, Aalegra’s third full-length album justifies her hype, proving why she’s been able to carve out a lane for herself as a budding star in the modern R&B landscape.

Pitchfork
With dreamy experimental production and standout Tyler, the Creator features, the L.A. singer’s latest is an affecting document of how pain can smolder beneath a veneer of nonchalance.

Clash

It’s these softer moments with production pared down, Aalegra’s voice front and centre, where the real magic happens.

The Guardian
As the title suggests, love in Aalegra’s world is beautiful, beguiling and quick to fade into the ether – much like her music’s classy, retro charm.

'TEMPORARY HIGHS IN THE VIOLET SKIES' shows Snoh Aalegra taking a trip into the world of retro R&B as she talks about a relationship that had its highs and lows, ending up being left behind. Snoh Aalegra chose to go down the retro route, which is currently super popular, but went with her own approach instead of using flashy synths like literally everyone else, using other elements that sound heavily influenced by jazz. She fits the retro style perfectly because of how her vocals sound ... read more

Poised and elegant like always, but admittedly it's lacking the flair that made her previous albums so stellar to me. Will probably grow on me since she's the queen of slow-burns (and there are many slow-burners on this album) but the strongest tracks are the ones with more creative touches. After all — despite the neo-soul and nu-jazz stylings of her music — the core appeal of Snoh Aalegra’s output lies in her gorgeous, satin voice, and there's plenty to sink your teeth into ... read more

Leaving aside the r & b a little more attached to the 90's from her last album Snoh Alegra gets into a contemporary r & b which I think continues to work in a good way, she does her thing and I really like it.

Favorite tracks: Indecisive, Lost You, In Your Eyes, Just Like That, Neon Peach, We Don't Have To Talk About It, Tangerine Dream, Temporary Highs, Violet Skies, In The Moment, Everything, Dying 4 Your Love, Save Yourself.

Least favorite track: On My Mind.

I don't think it's as strong as her other LPs but... it's still very good. I think she's one of the best R&B singers out right now and she always seems to deliver on her projects, and this is no exception. Beautiful production and vocals throughout with excellent features, there's not too much I can complain about. Tyler and Snoh's voices surprisingly work really well together.

Favorite tracks: LOST YOU, IN YOUR EYES, NEON PEACH, WDHTTAI, VIOLET SKIES, IN THE MOMENT, ON MY MIND, DYING 4 ... read more
