Fundamentally, Pom Pom Squad’s strengths lie in their theatrics as they submerge themselves gleefully in their own campiness.

Throughout ‘Death Of A Cheerleader’, the thrashing of guitar strings feels exorcising, but never overwhelming. For Pom Pom Squad it’s always been rooted in that rush of excitement that comes from finding something, or someone, you’ve been missing – including this album.

Equally indebted to pioneering girl groups and her punk heroes, the New York singer-songwriter’s debut is a fiery exploration of love, anger, and coming-of-age.

En mi intento por tratar de abarcar la mayor cantidad de registros, o géneros posibles, me encuentro en ocasiones con discos sumamente establecidos en géneros determinados; que a su vez son buenos aportes por ensanchar el panorama anual de cada uno de ellos. 'Death of a Cheerleader' navigates through a specific vibe, and much of the overall atmosphere is literal in this amazing artwork. Pom Pom Squad is an artist I'm not familiar with but already liked it a lot. The production is delightful, the vocalist is passionate about what she sings about (it is clear), the lyrics are cleaver and fun at the same time, it just works (everything). Imma watch this closely, I love making random discoveries.

Oh honey I've been WAITING for this one. I've been anticipating this album with every single and review released of it. I love Pom Pom Squad's entire aesthetic and I could not wait to hear Death of a Cheerleader in full.

Even just the intro, Soundcheck, sets up a dreamy and weird entrance for the album and then it just takes off with Head Cheerleader, a light and catchy indie rock song. Mia Berrin's voice is ... read more

this is a full realization of the promise evident on the 2017 EP Hate It Here. my review of that EP compared Mia Berrin favorably to Colleen Green and while that is still apt, her sound has grown dynamically in a short period of time. her songs are full of snarl and confidence as she pulls apart the chains of false consciousness to assert her unique style. her deconstruction of "Crimson + Clover" and surprising cover of "Again" (incorrectly listed on the album as "This ... read more
