Leprous have made an extremely interesting transition to orchestral prog metal and I am all for it. They deliver on excellently constructed choruses and massive payoffs, while also allowing for experimentation. My only major gripe with this album is the verses, which need more to them to be really complete for me. However, this album does beckon multiple listens and I am willing to change my thoughts over time.
Less noise. Much more sophistication. Beautiful, oftentimes minimal arrangements. Powerhouse vocals at the forefront. With this album, Leprous abandon metal almost completely to make a prog record which could even be labeled as adult contemporary. Leprous' "tamest" album yet is a fun ride with loads of twists, turns, and quality pop-laced choruses. Like all of their previous projects (barring Bilateral to a degree), not all of their experiments turn out the way they probably should have. What matters is that the results are pleasing once again. My most anticipated album of the year and it's (surprise, surprise) incredible! It's mindblowing how despite releasing one album every two years since their debut the quality always remains super high. And none of them sound the same, always adding something new to their unique and signature sound that no other can make.
