I know close to nothing about metal sub-genres like death metal or gridcore, but I did read that British band Carcass have indulged in both and are even seen as originators of the sound since their late 80’s inceptions and after breaking up in 1996 they have since returned and their second album back is Torn Arteries. Carcass returns after 6 years to release their 7th Studio album, Torn Arteries, and it is a solid showcase of melodic death metal and shows the band still have fuel in their tank and although it never truly impresses as much as Heartwork or their previous albums, their are still strong sets of songs, good vocals and great riffs for a heart pumping listen but as a whole just isn't memorable at end of the day as their previous works but has moments of pure energy thats is so mind ... read more

There's not a lot to say about it really. If you enjoyed the first album after the reunion, Surgical Steel, there's plenty more to enjoy here.
It's not reinventing the wheel or particularly impressive in a tech or prog death kind of way, but Carcass is past that point. As pioneers of multiple death metal styles, including tech-death, gore metal, and melodeath, they've earnt the right to just make the music they want to play.
