In being so loyal to the structure of what’s come before, Colors II doesn’t reinvent progressive metal like its predecessor, but by all other metrics, it lives up to its lineage.
Colors II can still be plenty respectable without reaching or surpassing Colors. It's certainly BTBAM's heaviest in a while, paying tribute to the BTBAM's watershed record without copy-pasting.
Colors II isn't quite the return to form suggested by its title and lead teaser.

wow they actually did it again
Felt in the mood to give this a try since I've been in a prog mood lately and since I loved part one. This is one of the few metal bands I would listen to now and the only prog metal band I like. They actually make an effort to have great song structure, softer melodic and epic moments with interesting rhythms while still maintaining the heaviness of metal instead of being random ass riffs and solos everywhere to show their incredible musical skills while making a song genuinely unlistenable. ... read more
I'm in disbelief. They captured lightning in a bottle TWICE...
I'm a major fan of the original Colors, one of the handful of albums (That I've heard) I consider a 10/10, so I was very excited to listen to this yet nervous I would be disappointed after hearing some criticism about it, but I went into it open minded.
After a few listens over the past few weeks I've concluded that this follow up, once again is an absolute 10. They lived up to the hope and then some.
