Even at a brisk 25 minutes, Deb Never's debut release feels like an hours-long slog through indie pop material so overly tread that you could tell me it was a covers album and I would completely believe you.
Love this! Deb's music here really effectively mixes sparse indie pop with elements of hip-hop and rock maximalism to give it an extra edge. Really hope she gets the attention she deserves with this new release.
Deb Never doesn't disappoint with her debut record. Showing traces of unique musical artistry, great songwriting, a keen ear for anti-pop music and crafting an okay tracklist. Despite being flawed in letting some of the sour spots cruise the tracks by the end of the record, 'WHATFG?' will age well, hopefully well as Never.
