Death are perhaps the most famous and important bands in death metal. Now that I'm starting to go through their discography, I can definitely say that their debut has impressed me a lot.

For what I think is the first time since I started listening to death metal, I actually like the vocals. Usually I either don't care for them or I just have to tolerate them, but here I actually enjoyed listening to these growls. PHENOMENAL

Death's debut has been criticized for being many things. Is Scream Bloody Gore immature? Is it narrow-minded? You could argue both of those things--at this point in the burgeoning band's career, they didn't quite have their penchant for incredibly progressive and forward-thinking yet brutal metal implanted into their very DNA.
