There's no coming back from this one.

No, this isn't the worst album Yes have ever made. Truth be told, it's better than their last album, Heaven & Earth. But honestly, even though the best material here is much better than what was found there, there just isn't anything to this album that saves it from being categorized in the same tier. The thing is, at least with Heaven & Earth it felt like a classic band trying to sound hip and fresh. But here, it sounds like they haven't grown one ... read more

Progressive Power Pop headache. The Ice Bridge sounded like a track from "Fly From Here", one of very few Yes records post-70's that did progressive rock right. The rest was about as shitty as every other Yes album of the last 15 -20 years, awful.

The Quest is another mediocre at best release by the Yes (cover) band. The underdeveloped, repetitive instrumental section that seems to go nowhere combined with painfully average songwriting makes this a completely skippable listen

I was curious to see what such a legendary band as Yes could have possibly done to warrant such an apathetic response to their new album. It quickly became clear that the band had succumbed to the all too familiar "painfully shallow imitation of their past work" syndrome.

There's nothing outwardly offensive about The Quest; it's well produced, well performed, and perfectly listenable, but there is not a single unique bone in its body. This sounds like a 70s band doing their best Yes ... read more
