At Cry Baby’s core, the singer unfurls a series of saccharine nursery rhymes that are truly, deeply unsettling. It rattles you with a painted smile.
Cry Baby shows that Martinez is admirably ambitious, but her insistence on sticking to the album's central idea leaves her contorting into uncomfortable positions.
I went to see Run the Jewels in 2015 and was the second person in line. The guy in front of me had a similar stature, another tall and skinny white kid with tattoos and a band tee. Prepare for trouble, as the producer might shove in some of the most nauseating bubble popping and wet sipping sounds to make your experience infinitely worse. The only good songs worth listening to are Dollhouse and Mad Hatter since Melanie ... read more
