The song hits a sweet spot Common struggles to find throughout, between evocative imagery and his brand of uplifting hip hop. The brilliance of lines like "I love poetry when it becomes infinity" is offset by all-too-frequent lyrical maladroitness ("This is chemistry no need for periodic tables").

I like the more upbeat live jazz feel, but overall this series is a letdown. I havent been impressed with a Common record since the excellent return to form, Black America Again. This is easily one of his weakest albums to date, it feels lyrically inconsequential, uninspired and sonically all-over-the-place.

Common past his prime - wait, no - Common *past his* past his prime outdid Kanye and Drake looool. A little better then the project before it, the grooves are groovier and the music is a bit more fun to pay attention to and follow along with. Always nice to see one of the older legends show they still got it, that stretch from A Beautiful Chicago Kid to Majesty was absolutely lovely.

I think the idea for the album was good but the execution was lacking. Leading up to the album Common said this about it “ The spirit of the album was meant to emulate what a greater day would sound and feel like. We were in the midst of some tough political and socially challenging times. There was still hurt, anger and pain lingering, so I was thinking, ‘what is the next step in this revolution?’ I thought about what being still in these times had brought me and that was a ... read more

Conscious rap from the early 90s brought in 2021. Nice project.

It's certainly not bad, but this is fairly underwhelming for a Common project, both lyrically and production-wise.

I'm not sure how the same formula that worked so perfectly for me last year could end up disappointing me so thoroughly this time around. Conceptually, this record is supposed to be a continuation of 2020's "A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 1," but whereas I found the genre melding and forward-looking lyricism of that effort to scratch the itch, this time around the genres being strung together seem less varied and the words seem to be more descriptive than prescriptive. The same general ... read more

Good production and instrumentation, creating a cinematic jazz feel along with some great verses and lyricism. The album takes life through this and the undeniably catchy and sweet hooks throughout. All of this goes right but it can also get repetitive at some points.

I actually think this is a pretty good album. I think it's a big step up from the first album, which was just kinda boring to me. I don't think the production from Karriem Riggins is that great on this project, and PJ isn't one of my favorite vocalists, but Common's rapping is pretty good throughout this album for the most part. This isn't one of my favorite albums of the year, but I did enjoy it to some extent overall. Honestly, it's better than I thought it would be. I think it's a good ... read more
